compLexity have won the IEM5 American Championship with a 2-0 victory against the season four champions from Evil Geniuses.
The anticipated matchup between the two teams kicked off on de_nuke, with the Brazilians starting as CT. Just like the match against mTw at WCG, compLexity showed solid CT play and Evil Geniuses got denied again and again, when trying to execute their attacks on the upper and lower bombsite. First half went in favour of compLexity with a 12-3 score line and the Brazilians seemed unstoppable.
EG did however want it different, starting off winning the pistol round and bringing it to a 7-0 lead. compLexity won some key rounds and it came down to the very last round of the regular playing time, to decide if it should be a win for compLexity or EG bringing it to overtime. EG clutched it and forced the overtime, where they secured 3-2 as CT in the first half. It did however all go to complexity, who with a 4-1 score in second half secured the victory with 21-19.
Moving to de_dust2, compLexity won the right to pick sides and surprisingly they wanted to start on the CT side. The Brazilian team did however show everyone why they chose to do so, as they sealed a 9-6 lead at half time. EG won the pistol round as CT, but came short of building a big lead, as compLexity secured third and fourth round.
EG saw complexity push on to match point at 15-8, EG kept their chances alive the two following rounds, bringing the match to a 15-10 score. The following round it was definitely over for EG, as they couldn’t cope with a 2-vs-4 situation, seeing compLexity closing the match with a 16-10 score.
